Heifer’s Animals

by Shaun

At Ripples News Network, kids are looking for news that creates positive ripples in the world. I am excited about the Heifer Project because it is a gift that goes on and on and on; it doesn’t stop.

The Heifer International program helps end poverty and hunger. Heifer donates animals and crops to those who need them. They also teach people how to take care of the animals and the crops they grow. When a family is going to get an animal, first they take a class from Heifer to learn how to take good care of their animal.  Heifer also teaches people to take care of the land by doing things like using natural feritlizer.

One Heifer cow can produce four gallons of milk a day and have one calf every year. The people who have a cow send the baby to another family because the other family needs milk too,
